Abstract

We report on a case of a pediatric papillary fibroelastoma (PFE) involving the tricuspid valve. PFE in most cases are located on the left-side valves, where as PFE on the tricuspid valve are extremely rare, especially in pediatric patients.
An asymptomatic 10-year-old girl was noted as having a cardiac murmur, and through further evaluation by echocardiography and magnetic resonance imaging we diagnosed a cardiac tumor on the tricuspid valve. The tumor occupied a large space in the inflow of the right ventricle. During surgery a quadrangular resection of the anterior leaflet involving the tumor, and placement of an annuloplasty were used to successfully repair the tricuspid valve. The patient showed excellent convalescence and is leading a normal life one year after the operation.
